appears those that you least expect to help out.
While my main support system did fail, I can't let it pass that I did get help from unsuspecting people.
Lea was busy Fri night, and i know she's up really early for work, so I admit, I didn't think to call her even though she's in the neighborhood. She was heading to bed, she went to close her browser and saw my FB plea for help, and sent me the text saying she had to change back into clothes and was on her way.
Kate saw my frustration on twitter Sat that my friend didn't go get my meds as promised, so she added me to her list of errands, did my shopping, banking and med run for me. Seriously folks, she was an angel, we had only met IRL once before at my garage sale. She has the cutest kids, I gladly kept them here so she could get a little time alone also.
My boyfriend Eric and his daughter came over on Sunday to spend a few hours before he drove her home and had to head North, he just started a new job and is working almost 50 hrs a week.
A former neighbor came by with a surprise Christmas food drop for me. 5 bags of groceries and a Turkey. Humbled and blessed.
My friend Jake dropped by w/ a fantastic Christmas CD for me, and has called daily even though he's getting ready for his band's first music video shoot this weekend.
My ex even offered to drive down 3 hours to spend time helping if I needed, yet none of the "close friends" that have been here through all of this, were able to be here for me.
So while it was frustrating, there were major bright lights from unexpected places, and they weren't trains! I am blessed, I am humbled that people I barely know would go out of their way to help me out. It's times like these that really show you where we need to prune. Thank you Lord for being so blunt!

Dear ex-wife;
I am writing today to express my frustrations with you. I wish that you would sincerely take this to heart and see what you are doing to Tim and your daughter.
This weekend is a perfect example of "things gone wrong", you see, you promised your daughter that she would go see Mimi and Papa this weekend and then come spend the week with us. Then that changed to going to see her Aunt and having a sleepover there before coming to our house, and then last night, on the way down, you decided to bring her straight here instead. Ya know, when we told you that we weren't able to make it up on Friday you said that you had set up a TA Training on Friday and Saturday and that you would need to find a babysitter for your daughter; how is it you were able to deal with a "Peanut that is being difficult today" if you were out Training?
I'm happy to say that the negativity she showed towards me disappeared w/ in 5 minutes of you leaving however TODAY she is very, very, VERY upset that she did NOT see Mimi, Papa or her Aunt and cousins. As a matter of fact, she has her bag all packed and at least once an hour since she woke up, she has brought all her belongings upstairs saying "Mommy said we're going, I'm ready". She calls us LIARS and screams and stomps her feet when we say "You're staying here, Mommy is on a trip". She honestly thinks you are back at home and going to take her to see her grandparents. In fact, she thinks you're going to be home when she gets there Tuesday, even though she is having "special Sissy time" with her older sister. She told me this morning "Mommy is taking me to school Wednesday" and was VERY upset when I explained that Mommy wasn't home and would be gone all week. I took the brunt of that maneuver for you, you're so welcome. I'm used to being the bad guy, just add it to the list of lies I've told her.
Now, about the food she was eating when she arrived to our house, why is it ok for you to take her for Dairy Queen and feed her hamburgers, french fries and Blizzards but WE aren't allowed to do that? I can't recall the number of times over the past 18 months you have said "Oh she's supposed to be on a low fat diet", in fact SHE tells us she's not supposed to eat "that stuff" and yet you feed it to her yourself? Stop being so hypocritical.
Well, that's all for now, I need to go cook dinner for this crowd and unpack Peanuts clothes for the umpteenth time today. (oh ~ please tell me why you don't want me to wash her clothes, what don't I do right?). Oh... one final thing, this attitude I have, yeah, well I've learned it from your "snappity snap" daughter. Duuuuurrrrrrrrrrrr ....
Sincerely,
The Step-mother

It's Friday!
We're still 12 days away from the start of school, my son is bored to tears (literally, he cried last night about being so bored).
Today we're going to finish his bedroom transformation that was started on ... oh ... April 28th! Yes I AM that procrastinator. Life has just been in the way, seriously, STOP LAUGHING at me! Better now? Good.
So on the topic of life getting in the way, we were supposed to head up to WA for a couple days, pick up the step-daughter, go to a 21st Birthday BBQ for my Kings' neice and then visit my sister in law and brother in law tomorrow. They recently relocated from CA to the same town that one of my Kings sisters lives in. However, if you recall, my King lost his job almost a month ago and the money just isn't in the budget.
(Here's where it gets good) Sooooo we contacted the Kings ex-wife and let her know of our change in plans (funny, we have no problems ~other than grumbles and laughs ~ when she changes plans but when we do it we screw up her entire life). She's bringing the step-daughter here Sunday afternoon and we will bring her home Tuesday. Why Tuesday? Well because she starts school on Wednesday. Now ... you are surely wondering, WHY is that a problem? Well I suppose it's not, but the reason ex-wife is gladly dropping her off here (because it doesn't happen, believe me) is that she's going to CA for a week. WHAT??? YOU ARE LEAVING YOUR DAUGHTER TO DO HER FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL ALONE? Well not alone, her older sister will get her off to school...but Come ON! How many moms, especially one that calls almost daily crying when her daughter is on visitation here (even if it's only 2 days) telling her "baby" that she misses her so much, misses the first day of school for any child, especially a special needs child?
Ok, I had better stop, because the mean, nasty side of me is going to rear it's ugly head. I try so hard to be a good christian, but bottom line, I'm human and this woman really really tests all my beliefs in people. Breathe, breathe, breathe ....
My king is making yummy omelettes for us to eat ... off to enjoy.

Off for the weekend
It's been a stressful and draining week. Just as I was feeling better yesterday, Tim came home from work early and let me know he had been laid off. We immediately went into "howthehellarewegoingtosurvive" mode.
We think we have it figured out, we hope we have it figured out, he's already got his resume in for another job and is on the road to pick up Abbie for the week. Clark and I are heading to the store and bank to get errands done and then we are packing EVERYONE including the dog up and heading out to the family farm to camp for 2 nights. Only costs us coffee, chips and hot dogs! What a deal!!
We have faith. The Lord will NOT leave us hanging, there are plans in place for me to become a partner in a well established business in September, and for 6 weeks we can "get by" if needed.
So that said ... we will see you on Monday. Have a great weekend! I'm sure I will have some stories to share!

Emotions run wild ....
I dragged myself to Church this morning, not because I didn't want to go, but because I was out with friends last night and didn't get much sleep, getting more sleep is always a good thing.
Kiddo was grumpy, whining about this, that and the other thing, my patience was thin. During the children's message he sat up on the stage flipping a quarter, never missing it, but continually moving as he does. As the service progressed, he opened up and shared "I miss my Dad", and he shed a few tears.
Today was Mission Sunday and our Haiti Mission was honored. This one is close to my heart, Haiti is where Mark and I were going to move to this summer to do the Lords work and help the people of Les Anglais and the poverty stricken Beach Village, live a fulfilling life.
We listened to the testimonials of 4 Mission Team members and then a video started. Watching the people of Les Anglais laugh, smile, literally drag themselves into the medical clinic is emotional and overwhelming. Knowing what our team went through to get there, emotional. And then it happened, Jim Shaw talking to the people of the Beach Village about Mark and spreading his ashes there, where he wanted to be. The tears flowed, I couldn't hold them back. Tim held me, he rocked me, and all I could do was cry, tears of sorrow as I do miss Mark here, but also cries of happiness as I am comforted in knowing that the Beach Village IS where Mark wanted to be and this group was able to make that happen for us.
I am so blessed in this world. Blessed that Mark was an amazing part of my life. Blessed that the Lord gave us our kiddo. Blessed that I had kiddo to focus on in the aftermath of Marks sudden death, it truly IS what got me through the past (nearly) 3 years. Blessed that I am surrounded by some amazing Christians that have walked with me, behind me, in front of me and carried me when needed. Blessed that I have my sister and Clark to support me when needed. Blessed that the Lord saw fit to bring Tim into my life, an amazing man that loves myself and kiddo for who we are AND is there to carry me when needed without judging me.
I am a sinner, I am human, I am a mother, daughter, sister, wife, friend. I am a Believer of the Lord, and I am incredibly Grateful for this Lord that accepts me as I am.

Tough Day turned into Great Night!!
It's been a tough week. Not necessarily an emotional week, but no motivation at all to do anything. My body is craving sleep and more sleep, and not much more. Today I was texting back and forth w/ Tim and literally fell asleep while waiting for a response from him. I was out cold, for 3 hours!! I woke up at 2pm to realize I missed 2 phone calls, several text messages asking if I was ok AND I missed my Counseling appt.
I made the decision tonight that I needed to have a Family Fun Night, so I told the guys that we were going to the movies. Well Tim said "Nope, let's go bowling" and so we did! It was fun, we laughed and cheered, ate dinner and David played video games. It was sooo worth missing my Stephens Ministry training tonight to refresh with the guys.
Tomorrow I will be making phone calls to the IRS, Oregon Dept of Revenue, my Doctor, my Counselor, my School ... to set up appointments. I am most likely going to withdraw from school because I have some major legal battles to face in the next few months that are going to take my time up, financial issues also. I'll get more into that later.

Major Life changes.. God is GOOD!
Tim's letter to me:
I am still in awe when I think of you. It just boggles my mind that I've found you, especially since I didn't even know that I was looking for you! I was only thinking about a weekend of hanging out with a beautiful woman, and I was (to be totally honest) scared ****less! I didn't know what was going to happen. I have to admit that the Prison only made it worse that first night! That is, until we kissed and I held you in my arms that first time! The way you made me feel was completely relaxed, like I had come home and was supposed to be there. Being with you that first night was the most fun I've had in years and the biggest reason was because my heart and my soul were completely together for the first time in I don't know how long. Until that weekend I had no hopes of ever finding someone that I could truly call my soulmate, and now after it I feel lost when I am away from you. You're are so much more to me than a lover, or a girlfriend. I truly believe that together we can do anything that we set our minds to, because our hearts are so easily joined. I want to tell everyone that I have found my soulmate, and I am complete!

BTW...I was going to call you over the holidays when we stopped for gas on my way from CA to Seattle to see if you wanted to meet me. But, I had to do a potty stop that ruined my timing and we were in a huge rush. Would have loved to have seen you. Miss you. |

I met my husband in March of 86, engaged in September of 86 and married in July of 87. We are still very happily married after 20 years with three beautiful daughters, 17, 13 and 12. I would not change a thing. Can't wait to hear all the details of the wedding. |

| Don't touch my remote!! | Me too! And now I'm trying to type with happy tears flooding my eyes!! My bil lost his wife in a tragic car accident July 29, 2006. At the beginning of 2007, he & a woman started dating....though they knew each other for years. They fell in love & were married this last November. My mil told me that when he "brought" her home to meet the parents in August, she (my mil) fell in love with her & her son. My mil said that it was like Merlie (my late sil) put them together....they were already like a family (my bil also has a son). Everything happens in God's timing, not ours. I'm so incredibly happy for you and David. |

| questioning my sanity | Thanks Everyone! We set the date for our wedding, it will be July 19th. We're thrilled, his mom keeps saying we need to just save the money and elope David is excited, he's already told me that Tim will be Dad, not Daddy as Mark was. He chats online or on the phone w/ him daily, takes the laptop right from me and goes for it. Abigail (Tims daughter) was with Tim this weekend and she made him call us several times because she missed us and wants to see us. David and I are going to spend the weekend up there in 2 weeks, he has a 3 day weekend. It was great to hear her and David talking on the phone. They make quite the pair, she has Downs Syndrome and David w/ his ADHD Tim has interviewed for 2 jobs down here in Portland already (he lives up in WA~can't remember if I said that or not). He will be here full time the last week of February, I can't wait! We've got a lot to do to get the house and gardens ready for the wedding, we're having the ceremony here I think that's it for now...thanks again for the love, prayers and support you guys have given David and I...and now for Tim and Abigail as we join two families. It's such an amazing feeling....words can't express how I feel about all of it.
