questioning my sanity | Thank You... What a day, I can't fully wrap myself around this yet...but the Lord works in amazing ways. You guys are AMAZING! I have asked that all calls be made to my business line, it can be found at our training site which is in my profile (I will NOT be checking that box until Friday and it will not be answered, in fact I'm turning the ringer off). Pretty amazing that I crashed that website last night and took it down but only left our contact info on it... We are keeping the main line open as we are coordinating Organ/Tissue donations and travel right now and I need to be available for calls on that line. Mark, David and I are blessed to have such a strong community of faith and friends surrounding us. The prayers have been felt and will be for time to come. I will be talking to Belinda (FYI Belinda & Jackie ) about putting up a Memorial Site and guest book tomorrow, so look for that information. That's about all I can handle, thank you for the calls, but like I said, I need them to go to my other line. Blessings to each of you. Marissa FYI - the page address for the Memorial Site is http://cascadefirstaid.com/marks_memorial.htm - that is where any/all specific local details as far as arrangements will be posted as they become available as well. ~Belinda |

May the Lord bless you and hold you and comfort you in the days to come. If there is any assistance needed (financially) contact your local Lion's Club - they may be able to help. Misty |

I cannot imaging what you are going through and my heart is breaking for you. You do not know me but I have been a lurker in this community for such a long time that I feel like I know you. I have followed every post about you, your family and Mark's mission trips. I know he is with his heavenly father watching over you and everyone he loaved. He was a special person and will continue to share his life with many people for years to come through the organ donation. You, David and all your family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. If there is anything that we can do for you do not be afraid to speak up. Kathi |

Government Wife | Marissa, I am on here to say that you are indeed in my thoughts and prayers. I had a very hard time sleeping last night, so prayed during most of it for you guys. I really wish that I were there so that I could ease some of that heavy load that is on your shoulders. Also sent out some emails to believing family members and our friends from church asking for prayers for all of you. If there is anything at all that you need, please let us know. Leah |

questioning my sanity | I'll post this here and it may be merged into the other thread. I did well last night. David stayed with good friends and had a BLAST with them as always. Pr. John and I explained to him earlier in the day what had happened and that Jesus needed Daddy to take care of the kids in heaven. We also said that Daddy was now with his Daddy and Grandpa who he hasn't seen in a long time. It was explained that he was allowed to be sad or happy and he didn't need to worry about crying or not. He gave me HUGE hugs...he's a good hugger! When asked if he had any questions, you can probably guess..."Can I sleep on Daddys side of the bed? " Yes... "Ok, can I go play gameboy now?" You betcha! Gotta love that kid! I spoke to him this morning and he's doing well. He said that he is happy and having fun. I asked him if he remembered where Daddy was and he said "In Heaven with Jesus", this boy will be fine! Today has been spent on the phone, making travel arrangements for Mark, finalizing Organ donations...being AMAZED at the support that is flowing through...everytiime I think I can't be overwhelmed by generosity, something else is given to me. We are changing the trust fund for David to a Memorial Fund...members of the Church want to be sure that they can donate regularly to keep Marks Salary coming in for us. They are putting a new roof on my house, they want College $$ for David to be there...they are sending over their landscapers and window washers and members are paying the costs...the list goes on and on... So that's where we stand. We're aiming for a Wednesday or Thursday Funeral, the Kids will be singing (no old hymns here...we're gonna CELEBRATE!). Mark is eligible for Military Honors so we're exploring that also, I have to talk w/ his family about this. Once again, Thank you for your calls (I've seen the out of state numbers on the caller ID), prayers and posts. The Guestbook is awesome! I just spoke to Marks closest ministry support person, the Kids had an AMAZING DAY! Marks Necklace was on the microphone and they sang their hearts out, he said it was their best performance yet...I could hear them laughing and playing in the background and he's going to pass on to them how overjoyed I am to hear that, it's EXACTLY how Mark would want it to be. Again, you guys are awesome, I can't say that enough. Blessings to each of you, now go love on your families! |

On a side note, after the initial shock when I told Josh about Mark and You, a few hours later he says 'if she needs anyone to do yard work, I'll do it for her, anything she needs or needs help with, I'm more than happy to help.' I'll let him know it is already being taken care of. |

Registered User | Marissa - I haven't posted on here in a very long time, but I wanted to say my thoughts are with you. As others have said - it's unimaginable to think of what you're going through. Couple of comments and observations... FIRST - I'm glad I caught you on the phone the other night - I was expecting to simply leave a message with your sister, and was surprised, and pleased you took the phone. I was at a loss for words, and after I hung up, I kept thinking how amazingly strong your voice sounded, and how in control you seemed!! NEXT - I know it's at great cost and an immense sacrifice, but the generosity you are showing with organ donation amazes me!!! You will be responsible not only for improved health for some, but actually for the lives of others. What a wonderful legacy from your husband. FINALLY - It appears you have an enormous support system. There's not much I can do for you from NY, but I'll add my offer to the countless others - if you need a venting session - you know how to find me. When my MIL lost her battle to cancer in 1984 a card we received noted: "After a birth, there is crying, while those who watch, smile, and after a death, there is smiling while those who watch, cry." That thought has stayed with me all these years, and I often think of it. |
