Savino Nitti
May 25, 1911 - May 25, 1998
On this day, 11 years ago today, which was ALSO Memorial Day, the glue that held our wonderful Italian family together, went Home to be with his family and Our Father in Heaven.
The world lost an amazing man that day. One who laughed, cried, loved and tolerated. A great friend to many, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was a man who loved his wine, beer and liquor (none of the cheap crap though!); a man who loved the finer things in life, yet wore undershirts and underwear until we grabbed them out of the laundry. A man who would drive 20 miles to save 5 cents a gallon on gas, we never understood his justification.
This was my grandfather, my Pop-pop.
